Interesting fact about the funeral yesterday
|
As a former Royal Green Jacket, the Queen (Gawd rest her soul) was the former Commander in Chief I wondered why the Rifles were not more involved. It turns out the Rifles were meant to pull the carriage. They declined and the Navy stepped in. It turns out only the Navy were prepared to hold hands in public Nothing unusual from a Saturday night in Portsmouth apparently I was told

I did notice that there was very few black people in the crowd and walking past the Queens coffin which was strange as not so long ago people were taking the knee for them .

That's weird, because my 14 hour experience of The Queue was that it was pretty diverse.

It's been the job of the RN ratings to pull the carriage ever since a horse reared up and nearly toppled Queen Victoria's coffin, apparently, she wasn't amused

It became increasingly obvious to me that William and Katey can't stand Markle. No one mentioned the fact that the Queen had invited Harry and his missus to Balmoral during their visit to Manchester and Germany. As far as I can see, this invitation went unanswered. No wonder Harry looked guilty after she died suddenly less than two weeks ago.

So it's not a fact, and certainly not interesting.

On the ball The tv coverage of the events over the last 3 days I saw very few black people but plenty of Chinese and Asians so it depends on how you call diverse.

'As far as I can see, this invitation went unanswered' LOL
Also, from my EXTENSIVE viewing of proceedings over the last few days the 'queue' in particular seemed plenty diverse.

Ever think the reason there were (seemingly) not many black people in the crowd is because they experience life with a daily/weekly/monthly dose of racism?
Not sure I'd turn out either.

Yes I know what you mean, my wife comes from the Caribbean, and has been racially abused twice in the 53 years since she's been in the country

So what your saying is that being racially abused, is a great excuse not to show respect for the queen of the country you live in. To stop racist people we really need to look at the cause from both black and white sides. But when you get people like Sinclair , and others fanning the flames it not going to stop. Just look at Leicester, racism appears in any colour or religious beliefs.

Despite what many may think the 2019 census showed the ethnic make up and England and Wales to still be 84.8% white so hardly surprising that the majority of people turning out to honour the white royal family are white.
Even though London is the most ethnically diverse area of the country its still 60% white. I know immigration is rumoured to be out of control but we're still a long way off being deemed a minority.

Jim79 If the official figures are 60% in London I wonder what the unofficial figure is.
